*NOAST ignored because bar code not CODE3OF9.

Cause . . . . . : On the BARCODE keyword, the option of printing (*AST) or not printing (*NOAST) the asterisk character applies only to the CODE3OF9 bar code. When specified with a bar code other than CODE3OF9, the *NOAST value is ignored.
