Message : CPIB688
Remote IBM i NetServer user &1 shared a directory.

Message Long Text :

Cause . . . . . : User &1 connected to IBM i Support for Windows Network Neighborhood (IBM i NetServer) from client &5. The path shared is &4 under the share name of &3. This is a temporary share that is visible only from the network. It will not appear in the list of shares given by format ZLSL0800 of the Open List of Server Information (QZLSOLST) API. The share will no longer be available when IBM i NetServer is restarted.
Recovery . . . : If the path is *N, then the client computer requested that the user's home directory be shared as part of the log on procedure to the IBM i NetServer domain. Use the Display User Profile (DSPUSRPRF) command to view the user's home directory path. In this case, only &1 who made the share available is allowed to connect to it.
If the share should not be visible to the network, then it may be removed with the Remove Server Share (QZLSRMS) API.
If the logon procedure for this user should access an alternate home directory, then two options are available after removing the existing share.
- The user's home directory can be changed in the user's profile with the Change User Profile (CHGUSRPRF) command. When the remote user next logs on from the network, the new path will be shared and this message will be given again.
- Alternatively, a new share for the appropriate path may be added for the share name &3 with the Add File Share (QZLSADFS) API. This allows the user's home directory to be retained while the directory accessed by a PC client during network logon/logoff could be separate. Also, this message will not be seen since the PC will access the added share directly.
Technical description . . . . . . . . : See the APIs topic collection in the Programming category in the IBM i Information Center, http://www.ibm.com/systems/i/infocenter/, for more information about IBM i Support for Windows Network Neighborhood (IBM i NetServer).
