WINDOW functions

Symptom

Several functions known from R/2 in connection with WINDOWS in the
list processing are not available in R/3:
- Window as extension of a list
- line selection in the background list
- providing the Windows system fields SY-WINSL, ... with information
- freezing the SY-LSIND during a Windows event
- scrolling within a window with SCROLL WINDOW ...

In addition, the undesired effect occurs, that a further list from
a window inherits the current window parameters if the LINE-SIZE
concretization is missing in the REPORT instruction (normally smaller
than desired).
Furthermore, the event TOP-OF-PAGE DURING LINE-SELECTION is also
processed for WINDOWS.

Cause

The WINDOW functionality in R/3 is limited to sending a further
branching list with agreed-upon dimensions.
All rules for branching lists also apply for WINDOWs.

Solution

Do not use functions in connection with Windows that could lead to
conflicts due to the conditions described under "Symptom".
In the aspect of "optimal layering" of hierarchical branch lists,
the windows are ideally suited.
