Symptom

OS/2 - CUA interface: what causes error message 00226
invalid conversation ?

Cause

This problem always occurs when the SNA-converation from the SAP SNA
gateway work process (which serves the presentation) was taken down
for the following reasons (example):
- the physical connection from SAP SNA gateway to the IBM host has
broken down (token ring breakdown, modem error with SDLC connection
3174-gateway no longer active, etc.) .
- a timeout has occured in the CICS, which ends the conversation
itself if no activity in a specific SNA conversation takes place
within a certain time interval.

Solution

Start gateway.
