File cannot be compressed
Tip-No.: 647

Symptom

During compression, a message that a file cannot be compressed
appears.

Cause

Unix compress has a return code <> 0.
Possible causes:
1.) too little disk space in the save directory.
==> Save file cannot be further compressed.
2.) Data base file name ends with " " or a special character.
==> compress does not find the file.

Solution

1.) Provide more disk space.
2.) Rename the data base file (in the data base and in the BS)
( Connect in SQLDBA as Oracle data base admistrator and transmit
the following command:
- Old data base rename file '/.../.../filename' to
'/.../.../newfilename'
in BS, change filename to newfilename (e.g. cp). )
