/CWM/CM_1: Functions in the Accounting Area (New)

Use

As of SAP ECC 6.0, Industry Extension Catch Weight Management, Enhancement Package 4 (IS-CWM 604), business function CWM, New Architecture: Inventory Management, Inventory Accounting in ERP (/CWM/CM_1), the following changed functions are available:

All inventory value information, including the prices used for inventory valuation, is managed in the standard inventory management (MM-IM) tables (for example, MBEW). CWM-specific appends have been added to the tables for CWM fields. The Inventory Accounting component (FIN-BAC-INV), which was used in earlier versions, is no longer being used.

Once the business function /CWM/CM_1 has been activated, all materials are valuated based on the valuation unit of measure. For CW materials, this can be either the base unit of measure or the parallel unit. The base unit of measure is always automatically taken as the valuation unit for non-CW materials.

Inventory Accounting

All of the transactions from inventory accounting that were used in earlier versions are no longer available:

  • FAIVxx
  • FAIPxx
  • FAIRxx
  • FAIBxx

This results in the following changes in the various different areas of inventory accounting:

  • Debiting and crediting materials
You can use the standard transaction MR22 for this, which has been adapted for SAP CWM.
  • Material price maintenance
None of the functions of the Inventory Accounting (FIN-BAC-INV) component are available for price maintenance any longer. You can use the standard transactions MR21, MM01 and MM02 for price maintenance, which have been adapted as appropriate for CWM.
  • Periodic processing
For all periodic processing, all existing standard transactions have been adapted as appropriate for SAP CWM (for instance, KKAX for calculating work in process). Period-end closing activities for order management are now carried out in a CWM system in the same way as they are in a standard system.
  • Information system
You can use standard transactions for this that have been suitably adapted for SAP CWM. For the Objects, Material, Work in Process, and Goods Receipt/Invoice Receipt areas you can use the standard functions. Existing order reports (FAIR06) from previous versions are processed using the corresponding standard reporting as part of the Controlling reports within production control.

Product Cost Controlling (CO-PC)

Standard functions are available within Product Cost Controlling, especially for the costing and settlement of production and process orders:

  • WIP (Work In Process)
WIP is treated in the same way as in an ERP standard system, meaning order costs are no longer posted in real time to G/L accounts. Instead, WIP is calculated as part of period-end closing with the existing standard transactions and posted accordingly at a later stage.
  • Costing and reporting in production and process orders
The Inventory Accounting (FIN-BAC-INV) component reports used in previous CWM versions have been replaced by standard functions and reports.
  • Joint production
Quantity-based distribution (with and without equivalence numbers) in the distribution procedure for joint products, as used in previous CWM versions, has been replaced by the standard procedure with equivalence numbers.

Material Ledger (ML)

The Material Ledger component has been adapted to CWM and can now be used for actual costing.
