/DSD/BF: DSD Connector: Language-Dependent Master Data Texts (New)

Use

As of SAP ECC 6.0, Enterprise Extension SCM, Enhancement Package 3 (EA-SCM 603), business function Enhancement of the DSD Process (/DSD/BF), you can provide the mobile device with master data texts in a specific language. You make the required settings in Customizing for the DSD Connector.

You use the DSD Connector to connect mobile devices (front end) with the DSD backend using a middleware server. The DSD Connector saves master data permanently and saves transaction data temporarily, reduces their volume, and exchanges this data between the front end and backend in both directions.

Some of the master data attributes in the DSD Connector contain texts. Up to now, the system could only provide these texts in the language of the last processed text segment of the relevant master IDoc. Therefore, the texts were only available in one language, and you could not set the language assignment in Customizing.

Now the DSD Connector can provide master data texts in a specific language on the mobile device, corresponding to the language you set in DSD Connector Customizing at the device groups level or the level for all devices. If you have made language settings in group-specific and global Customizing, the language setting at the level of device groups has precedence over the settings at the global level.

Effects on Existing Data

Effects on Data Transfer

Master data texts (customer and material) and texts for attributes must be created in the languages used. Changes must be transmitted by sending the relevant IDocs to the DSD Connector.

Effects on System Administration

Effects on Customizing

You make the Customizing settings for this function in Direct Store Delivery Customizing under the section Handheld Connectivity-> DSD Connector Settings-> Settings for Mobile Devices-> Specify Settings for Mobile Devices.
