/DSD/OCS: Occasionally-Connected DSD Scenarios: ATP Check & Pricing

Use

As of SAP enhancement package 5 for SAP ERP 6.0 (EA_APPL 605), the business function Occasionally-Connected DSD Scenarios: ATP Check & Pricing is available. You can use this business function in a mobile Direct Store Delivery (DSD) scenario to exchange selected data between a mobile device and the DSD back-end system using occasional online synchronization. This real-time data exchange is especially useful for the DSD driver roles van seller and mixed driver, since it means they have access to the latest data and can react quicky to unforseen situations at the customer (such as inquiries about prices or stock).

If you want to run an ATP check or pricing, current data is crucial. At present, drivers who are on their tours visiting customers do not have access to the DSD back-end system and thus to any current data.

This business function provides interfaces for occasional online synchronization. Drivers can then use their mobile application during their tour to query the back-end system or retrieve data for further processing rather than having to wait until they arrive at the distribution center (either to reload or when the tour is complete).

Note

In this context, occasionally connected means that a mobile device connects to the DSD back-end system (either by cable or wireless) so that data can be exchanged between the two. This connection is not permanent and may need to be initiated manually.

The following prerequisites must be met in order to use this business function:

  • You have activated DSD with the Enterprise Extension EA-SCM as well as the business functions /BF/DSD and /DSD/OCS.
  • You use a DSD scenario with a mobile application.
  • You must implement a mobile application on your mobile device that meets the requirements for using the business function interfaces for the ATP check and pricing.

Note that the SAP MDSD applications up to and including MDSD4.0 do not meet these prerequisites for the business function.

Request for ATP Check

Using interfaces, you can send a query from the mobile device to the DSD back-end system to request an availability check (Available-to-Promise (ATP) check): The back-end system determines if and when the requested materials are available. It then provides the mobile application with the result.

Depending on the mobile application, the data can be further processed and is then available to the driver. The driver can carry out the next steps in the process during the tour, such as creating a new order for the customer.

Request for Pricing

Using interfaces, you can send a query from the mobile device to the DSD back-end system to request pricing: The back-end system determines the correct prices for all requested materials and provides the mobile application with the result.

Depending on the mobile application, the data can be further processed and is then available to the driver. The driver can carry out the next steps in the process during the tour, such as printing an invoice or collecting money.

This type of pricing using the DSD back-end system is an alternative to price determination directly on the mobile device.

There is a new BAdI available for this business function (BAdI: Customer Enhancements for ATP Check and Pricing (/DSD/BADI_OC_ATP_PRI)), which you can use to make customer-specific settings.
