Simplified Processing in Controlling with Collective Orders
Description
Release 4.5A provides simplified processing of collective orders in Product Cost Controlling. This means that in Release 4.5A all functions of Cost Object Controlling that you can also use in make-to-stock production and sales-order-related production with a valuated sales order stock without collective orders are now available for collective orders.
You can use the following functions in Release 4.5A for collective orders:
- Valuation of the inventories of the materials produced in the collective order at standard costs
Calculation of the work in process (WIP calculation) and settlement of the work in process in accordance with the standard procedure in the period-end closing process of Cost Object Controlling.
- You can calculate work in process at actual costs and at target costs.
- Cumulative or periodic variance calculation in accordance with the standard procedure in the period-end closing process of Cost Object Controlling for all orders in a collective order that deliver to the make-to-stock inventory or to the valuated sales order stock
- Cumulative or periodic settlement of the orders in the collective order
- Periodic settlement of production orders and process orders requires that work in process be calculated at target costs.
- Settlement of variances to Profitability Analysis (CO-PA)
- Valuation at transfer prices. That is, in parallel valuation views
A hierarchy report can be accessed for a collective order that shows the total of the planned costs, target costs, and actual costs for each level of the collective order. It is possible to go from these reports to detailed reports for individual orders. If a collective order is used with goods movements, the goods movements are eliminated from the reports for the collective order.
The simplified processing logic for collective orders requires goods movements between the individual production levels. These goods movements are generated by the system automatically.
Collective orders with automatic goods movements cannot be used in the following situations:
- In connection with phantom assemblies
- In connection with configurable materials
Collective orders are not supported in repetitive manufacturing. Collective orders are not possible for product cost collectors.
Co-products are only allowed in the leading order.

In the order type, you specify whether goods movements are to take place between the levels of the collective order.
