Archiving of Consolidation Data

Scope of Functions

The archiving of consolidation data has been revised for release 4.6A. Emphasis was put on the improvements to the selection screens and the selection entry checks.

Archiving of consolidation features the following archiving objects:

  • FI_LC_ITEM for archiving journal entry (line item) data (tables FILCA, FILCP)
  • FI_LC_SUM for archiving totals records (tables FILCT, GLT3)
  • FLC_OBJECT is an old object that was replaced in release 4.5A. It can only be used for reading and reloading archives that were created by the same object. it can no longer be used for archive creation.

The archiving objects FI_LC_ITEM and FI_LC_SUM include reading, writing, deleting and reloading archives. They are also connected to the Archive Information System SAP AS (see transaction SARI); that is, there are field catalogs for read access via the account assignments and the document number. The Archive Information System features a new and quick way for reading sorted archives (see also the guide for evaluating FI-LC archives).

The archiving programs no longer include the options 'display combination list only', 'append combination list' and 'access parameters'. If you require these functions, please contact the responsible development department in Walldorf, Germany.

Read programs that are entered in Archive Management under 'Analyze' enable you to read the data from the archive and/or database.

The connection of Report Writer/Report Painter functionality to archiving permits customer-defined reading of the archive.

The reload programs can undo all archiving procedures. However, they should not be used for read access! Read programs and transactions already exist for this purpose.

All of the functions mentioned can be configured in Customizing of Archiving and be run in the application menu.

Before you start the archiving, you should check the option settings (size of archive file, variants for test/update runs of the deletion program, etc.); or you should at least enter these settings the first time you start archiving (see Goto --> Customizing).
