Ad Hoc Workflow Enhancements

Use

Workflows can be defined as ad hoc workflows. This enables you to vary task calling or determine the recipients of work items at workflow runtime.

To determine the recipients of work items ad hoc, do not specify any responsible agents in the workflow definition. If you enable ad hoc agent assignment for this workflow, the entries required are added to the workflow definition automatically. When you start an ad hoc workflow, you must specify the recipients for the steps to which you did not assign any responsible agents in the workflow definition. It is even possible to change the recipients during execution of the workflow.

Ad hoc selection of tasks during workflow execution is also possible. This means that a user can choose the next task(s) to be executed during execution of the workflow. The selectable tasks are collected in a task group.

If you want to start a workflow for an object type from the Business Workplace, you can create a new ad hoc workflow. This new workflow has ad hoc agent assignment. During definition in the Workflow Builder, only selected step types are offered, and all tasks that use the relevant object type are listed in My available tasks.

These function are intended for experienced workflow users who are are familiar with SAP Business Workflow.
