Device Integration (New)

Use

As of SAP AII 4.0 the following functionality is available for inter-device communication:

  • Support for the EPC global ALE protocol with regard to HTTP notification
  • Support for Web Service subscriptions that allow you to define and subscribe to event cycle specifications that dictate how your event cycle reports are sent on the notification channel.
  • Web Services for device integration:
  • notifyTags: Inform SAP AII of RFID notifications

  • getNumberRange: Allocate a range of RFIDs that can be commissioned by the device controller

  • notifyError: Errors reported by the device controller can be logged in CCMS

  • statusPing: SAP AII acknowledges "pings" from the device controller

  • notifyExtension: Used for extension purposes.

  • Services used by SAP AII include:

,,batchIssueTags: Commission (write tag and optionally print a label) for a list of RFIDs
,,subscribeEvents: Subscribe to the notifications that you want to receive
  • Enhanced classic HTTP device integration messages including the command ConfigureTagFilter that regulates the tags read by a device controller
  • Regarding the SAP Web Service subscription process, you can define any event names for the regular notification messages (which are sent to the "notifyTags" Web Service), assuming the device controller knows about these events. For error messages, the event evError is reserved and is the only event name that can point to the notifyError Web Service.
  • A Common Subscription Data Model (CSDM). You use a CSDM to configure the device subscription data common to all device protocols (ALE Define/Undefine and Subscribe/Unsubscribe, Web Service RfidCommandInterface::subscribeEvents/unsubscribeEvents and the SAP HTTP command message ConfigureTagFilter). A mapping mechanism associates the common subscription data with the device specific subscription data.
  • A user interface (UI) is added to maintain the common device subscription data on the SAP Easy Accessscreen under Auto-ID-Infrastructure → Master Data → Devices →Device Subscription. This UI also enables the subscription of all the device controllers.
  • A BAPI (BAPI_AIISRV_GET_NUMBER_RANGE) is added to obtain serial numbers for constructing RFIDs.

Effects on Existing Data

  • New device controller types (WebService DC, ALE) were added
  • Logical port assignment for Web Service clients was added
