APO-PPS-BF: Product-Specific Planning Time Fence

Use

As of Release 3.0A (First Customer Shipment and Support Package 1), you are able to define a planning time fence at product-location level. Within the planning time fence, only manual changes to the receipt elements are permitted. Automatic changes by a heuristic or by an optimizer are not performed within the planning time fence. It is particularly important to use a planning time fence when different people are responsible for the Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling or if you use multi-level ATP. Using a planning time fence you can protect your plan.

Note: Changes are also propagated (constraint propagation) within the planning time fence.

The use of the planning time fence can be deactivated for a whole planning version. You can find the appropriate switch in the planning version maintenance.

In addition to the planning time fence in the Product Master, the scheduler can also interactively set a firming time in the planning interface. The firmed area is determined by the maximum of the planning time fence and the firming time.
