PP/DS: Rescheduling of activities in the detailed scheduling planning board

Scope of Functions

Up to now, orders and operations were the smallest planning objects in the diagram section of the planning board, for which you could manually define a desired scheduling date with drag&drop. By rescheduling an order with drag&drop, you define the desired start date (depending on the scheduling direction) or the desired finish date for the order. This is identical with the start date of the first operation or the finish date of the last operation. By rescheduling an operation with drag&drop, you define the desired start or finish date for the operation. This is identical with the start date of the first activity or the finish date of the last activity.

Up to now, activities were not independent planning objects. It was possible to display the various activities of an operation, by putting together the graphic object of the operation from several graphic elements. Up to now, however, it was not possible (apart from the first and last activity of an operation) to define a new desired scheduling date with drag&drop for any activity of an operation.

From Release 2.0A you can define in the planning board, that in the diagram section of a chart, activities are displayed, that you can manually reschedule with drag&drop. Therefore, you can now also move individual activities specifically to another date and/or to an alternative resource. The system tries to schedule the activity for the resource, starting from the desired scheduling date, whilst taking into consideration the constraints.

After the activity has been successfully scheduled, the system schedules the other activities of the operation using midpoint scheduling (the temporal relationships between the activities of an operation are always taken into account). Starting from the activity rescheduled with drag&drop, the system schedules the preceding activities by backward scheduling, and the subsequent activities by forward scheduling.
