Short text
PP/DS: Planning Run
Scope of Functions
You are now able to perform a planning run in PP/DS for as many products in as many locations as you require. You can plan single-level, multi-level and/or in several locations. The planning can be in the form of a net change planning run or a regenerative planning run.
The planning run offers the following functions:
- The planning run uses heuristics, which you are able to define for each product. The product with the lowest low-level code is planned first. The low-level code is determined in the R/3 System.
- As of Release 2.0A, one heuristic is available that offers you the same multi-level planning functionality as currently available during automatic planning. The advantage being that you can plan several products in several locations simultaneously. As of Release 2.0B, SAP will provide other heuristics to be used in the planning run.
- You are able to create your own heuristics using the function modules provided by SAP. An example function module has been defined for weekly lot-sizing procedure.
- You can use propagation ranges to ensure that only products are planned for which you have change authorization. Propagation ranges are also to be used to restrict the level of planning, that is, by using a propagation range that does not contain the components for a product, you can plan single-level.
- You can perform the planning run periodically.
