Permanent Hold

Use

Permanent Holds represent the ability to adjust available balance (either an increase or decrease ) on a specific account. This functionality is part of master data because it is assumed that a Permanent Hold will only change infrequently.

Business Scenario:

For example, if an account holder is required to keep funds in his account as collateral, or as part of some other business transaction, you can apply a Permanent Hold so that the available balance on the account will be reduced to zero. Consequently, any attempt to draw funds from the account will fail when an available funds checks is made.

Creating Holds:

If this functionality is active, all you need to do is go to the “Holds” tab that will be displayed within Account Maintenance. There are two views inside of this tab, the first allows you to create a Permanent Holds (which can only be type 1 or 2) at which point you will be required to enter some required information such as start and end dates. The second view allows you to see any Permanent Holds that have already been applied against an account, and either change or delete such holds.

Note when changing or deleting:

You can only delete or change holds that have already been saved before. If you have just created a hold and need to make a change before saving the Account Maintenance session, it is best to cancel out of Account Maintenance and start over from the beginning.
