Short text

The authorization and profile maintenance interface has changed considerably.

Description

SAP assumes that the profile and authorization maintenance transactions are not used often and has radically changed the maintenance initial screen.

Authorization maintenance: In Rel. 1.x you had to enter the name of the object and the authorization when you entered authorization maintenance. From Rel. 2.0 you enter via a tree-structured list. We have taken the technical object names defined by SAP out of the display. From Rel. 2.0 we only display the object short text, so we must classify the authorization objects. (See Release note "Classification of authorization objects from Rel 2.0 "). When you enter authorization maintenance, the classes are listed. You choose one with F2 or double-click and its objects are displayed. You choose an object and its authorizations are displayed.

Object classes -> Objects -> Authorizations

You can create, delete or activate entries or go to the maintenance with F2 in the object authorizations list.

Profile maintenance: You go to a selection screen in which you can restrict the work area by profiles to be displayed. No entry lists all existing profiles. You can activate or delete profiles or go to the maintenance from the list. In Rel. 1.x you had to enter a profile name.

If you are in profile maintenance (via F2 or double-click) you no longer get a list in which you can enter object and authorization names. The object names are mostly SAP-defined technical names which are no longer displayed from Rel. 2.0. The object name is replaced by the object short text. You can go to a list from which you can select one or more authorizations or objects and put them in the profile with Edit -> Insert Authorizations or objects. If you are maintaining a composite profile, choose entries from a list of profiles.
