Displaying the Data Flow

Use

You can display the data flow of objects within BW using a graphic in the Administrator Workbench Modeling. This makes the interrelations and dependencies between individual objects clearer. It can be called up for InfoCubes, transaction data InfoSources and master data InfoSources.

You can call up the graphic for an object on the left-hand side of the Administrator Workbench via Display data flow in the context menu (right mouse button) for this object. All objects and rules involved, that proceed this object in the data flow, are displayed. All of the objects involved up to the InfoCube are displayed for the transaction InfoSources.

In this way, you can display connected source systems, DataSources and transfer rules for a master data InfoSource. The graphic additionally contains the update rules and InfoCubes for a transaction data InfoSource.

Update rules, InfoSources, transfer rules, DataSources and source systems are displayed for an InfoCube.

The objects themselves present the nodes in a graphic. The rules, that describe the dependencies between the objects, are shown by arrows. The nodes contain the object symbol and the descriptive text. If you select the corresponding arrow you get Quick Info which tells you which rule connects two objects and whether this is active or inactive. You can display the technical name of the objects via Detail . Furthermore, you can print the graphic and update it with Refresh.

By double-clicking on a node or an arrow you branch into the display for an object or rule.
