Creating Start Routines

Use

It is possible to create start routines, which can then be carried out at the beginning of the update. You can use the start routines to generate internal tables, for example, which you can then use for the key figure and characteristic routines.

Example:

In the update, you want to credit the individual vendors of a sales office with certain amounts of the sales revenue. For example, vendor A 20% of sales office A, vendor B 30%, and vendor C 50%. The vendors and their sales offices are listed in a master data table. The uploaded data shows the sales office as a characteristic. To be able to assign the vendors to the sales offices, you must read the data from the master data table. If the master data table is not far-reaching enough, you can generate a new table in the internal table, which contains the master data and which the subsequent key figure and characteristic routines can access.

Procedure

  1. Choose Administrator Workbench -> InfoCubes.
  2. Select the InfoCube you want and choose Create update rules, or select the update rule you want and choose Change update rules.
  3. Enter the name of the InfoSource whose update rules you want to maintain. Choose Next screen.
If the relevant update rules have already been maintained, these will be displayed.
When you create new update rules, suggestions are put forward here.
  1. Choose the pushbutton start routines. You automatically get to the ABAP editor for creating the start routines.
