SP3: Changes in Mobile Intelligence (Changed)

Use

  • In Web Application Desginer there is now an additional attribute "automatic output optimization (device-dependent)" on the Web template.
If this attribute is activated, the size of Web items is automatically adjusted to the size of the display on PDA devices. The size, color and legend of graphics is automatically adjusted to the size of the display on WAP devices.
The attribute "automatic output optimization (device-dependent)" also adjusts the settings of Web items that are normally meaningful. This attribute is switched on by default. In the case of device-specific Web templates, this automation can be disruptive.
  • Device-specific Web templates are supported. Automatic device recognition assigns a device class to each device. The device class for PDAs is PIE (for PocketIE) and for WAP, the device class is WML. Using the naming convention _PIE or _WML, you can created device-specific Web templates. If a certain device requests a Web template and a device-specific Web template is available, the device-specific Web template is used automatically.

    Example
For Web template ABC there are the device-specific Web templates ABC_PIE (for PDA) and ABC_WML (for WAP). If a WAP device requests the Web template ABC, using the naming convention, the Web template ABC_WML is used automatically.
  • You can create device-specific Web templates for ad-hoc applications (URLs with the URL parameters, InfoCube and query) using device-specific Web templates. See Determining Standard Web Templates in the IMG.
