Business Content for Device Management

Use

Up until now no device master data has been available in SAP BW. Only the stock statistics device could be analyzed. Master data and allocations for device management are now available in BW.

SAP supplies master data, ODS (operational data store) objects, and the accompanying DataSources for device management. Some of these DataSources are based on a delta procedure. This simply extracts changes to the corresponding objects in BW, which improves performance.

The new ODSs map the technical relationships for devices and registers.

The following master data is now available:

  • Device (0UC_DEVICE)
  • Device info. record (0UC_DEVICER)
  • Register (0UC_REGIST)

The following ODSs are now available:

  • Device - device allocation (0UCDMDS03)
  • Device - register allocation (0UCDMDS06)
  • Register - device allocation (0UCDMDS05)
  • Register - point of delivery allocation (0UCDMDS07)

In addition, you can use the master data that is already supplied to map InfoSets with any combination of master data. This allows you to realize flexible reporting demands from user departments in BW.

You can use the new content, for example, to:

  • Evaluate device master data
  • Analyze business and technical master data, from business partner to device.

These reports are constantly requested from user departments and sales. Executing the analyses, some of which are performance-intensive, does not put strain on the IS-U/CCS system.

This business content is available as of Release IS-U/CCS 4.72.

Effects on Existing Data

The new content does not affect the existing content, and can be activated independently.

Effects on Data Transfer

The new, delta-capable DataSources require a working implementation model in IS-U/CCS. For this reason, you should always make updates to device master data via the function modules and methods provided by SAP.

Effects on System Administration

The initial loading of some new master data objects can result in longer runtimes. For this reason you should coordinate the loading procedure with IS-U/CCS administration.

Effects on Customizing
