CATT Computer Aided Test Tool

Description

The CATT tool tests customer-specific modifications of SAP standard transactions during development and at Release change. It can also check the effects of Customizing changes.

CATT contains all functions to create, run, manage and log test procedures. It is linked to the Workbench Organizer and Repository Infosystem because it is integrated into the ABAP/4 Development Workbench infrastructure. You can create multilingual test procedures.

CATT changes:

  • Recording function: You can record transactions as test modules and parameterize them later with the recording function.
  • Parameterization: You can define any number of import and export parameters. The number of local variables is also no longer restricted. The user-defined parameters and local variables are linked to the ABAP/4 Dictionary.
  • External variants: You can now edit variants locally. You can create and run with CATT up to 99.999 different external variants.
  • Using external applications: You can use external applications in CATT modules. The data is downloaded from the R/3 System to the frontend where it is executed.
  • Name change: The term external variant which was valid until Release 3.0F has changed to external TCD data.

Changes to the Interface

The record function is now in the initial screen. It records a transaction. You enter the transaction code in a dialog boxr and run the transaction.

Changes in procedure

The parameter maintenance procedure has changed. They are now usually defined directly in the field to be parameterized in the field maintenance. Parameter names can now be up to rwelvecharacters long, beginning with &. The parameters are 132 characters long. You must specify wheter parameters are local variables or import or export parameters.
