Flexible Use of Organizational Units with Cost Centers
Description
Changes to organizational units assigned to a cost center (company code, business area, profit center) could, until now, only be executed if no data had been posted to the affected objects in the change period.
With Release 4.5A this restriction has been changed to allow increased assignment flexibility. You can
now make later changes for a cost center during a fiscal year to the company code, business area, or profit center if the following requirements have been met:
- The currency of the new company code corresponds to the currency of the old company code.
- No currency translations are currently being executed.
- Exclusively plan data has been posted in the fiscal year.
- The cost center is not assigned to fixed asset, a work center or a HR master record.
- Note that, at present, the system does not check whether the cost center is assigned to a HR master record!
Realization Concept Overview:
You can only make a change to the organizational units in the cost center master data if these changes to the organizational structures can also be made in the affected plan data. To achieve this, the system first determines all plan transaction data in all plan-integrated versions for the cost center to be changed.
This plan data is posted with reversed +/- (debit/credit) sign and the old organizational structures (inverse posting) and then with the original +/- sign and the new organizational unit (new posting). In this way the system takes back the plan data with the old organizational structures and adjusts the plan data using the new organizational structures.
Then the system changes the cost center master data in the same processing step.
New transaction "Cost Centers: Change Organizational Units"
As of Release 4.5A you can use the new transaction "Cost Centers: Change Organizational Units" to change the assignments of the organizational units "company code", "business area" or "profit center" for one or more cost centers. The system executes the checks and postings described above. The changes executed by the system are then displayed in a list of results.
Planning
The flexible use of organizational units will be enhanced at a later date. You will have additional possibilities for changing the organizational structures of a cost center within a fiscal year.
You will also be able to change organizational structures for actual data that has already been posted.
Changes to the organizational structures will be included directly in master data maintenance.
