EnjoySAP - New Initial Screen for Manual Planning

Scope of Functions

To set up sales and profit planning, it used to be necessary to define planning layouts and planner profiles. This process made it difficult to gain an overview of the different levels and their respective market segments where planning took place.

The new planning environment, with the initial planning screen, simplifies considerably how the planning process is organized. Two navigation trees are used to structure the planning architecture, thereby providing a user-friendly overview.

The initial planning screen consists of the following elements:

  • Planning levels
  • Planning packages
  • Planning methods
  • Parameter settings

You specify the characteristics and the upper outline level for planning in a planning level.
The definition of a planning package is dependent on the planning level since you select characteristic values for the characteristics speicified in the planning level. When defining the planning package, you specify the planning objects and create work packages.
For each planning level, the system automatically offers the possible planning methods you can use as processing options. These planning methods can then be used with all planning packages belonging to that planning level. The planning methods available in Release 4.6A are Enter Planning Data and Display Planning Data. Automatic planning functions are expected to be made available as planning methods in future releases.
In a parameter set, you specify the settings necessary for a planning method. They include the planning layout, for example, that is to be used to enter or display data. From parameter set maintenance, you can generate a simple planning layout automatically. You just need to perform a few more functions, such as adding the use of ratios, in the Customizing settings for the previous layout.

WIth a personalization profile, you can create user-specific views of the elements. In this way, only those elements relevant to the planner are displayed in each case.

You can set up the new initial planning both in Customizing and in the application:

  • In Customizing, choose Planning -> Manual Planning -> Prepare Initial Planning Screen.
  • In the application, choose Planning -> Enter/Display Planning Data.

You just need an authorization to change planning (authorization object K_KEPL_FR).

Effects on Existing Data

In Release 4.6A, the planning environment is still available via the transaction codes. SAP, however, reserves the right to delete the old transactions (such as KE11 for creating planning data). This is why we recommend that you convert your planning as soon as possible.

Note the following on conversion:

  • The planner profile no longer exists. Most of the settings that you used to perform in the planner profile can now be performed in the parameter settings. The user-specific view that could formerly be attained via the planner profile is now created using the personalization profile.
  • You can still use your old planning layouts. However, they should be compatible with the planning level.

To make the changeover easier, you can choose in Customizing Planning -> Manual Planning -> Aids for Changeover to the Initial Planning Screen, where the following functions are available:

  • With Display Planner Profiles, the old planner profile maintenance appears in display mode. You can use it to transfer your former settings more easily to the new parameter sets. You can switch to the change mode, but should only do so in exceptional cases.
  • With Create Planning Level from Planning Layout, you can create a suitable planning level automatically from an old planning layout.

Effects on Data Transfer

At present, you should still use transaction KE11 (creation of planning data) to transfer data via the batch input.
