CO-CCA: Indirect Activity Allocation for Actual and Plan Data

Description

Indirect activity allocation provides a tool for automatic allocation of activities for actual and planning data. It uses the methods of the allocation processor and is thus based on the concepts available there (cycles, segments, definition of senders and receivers, receiver allocation bases, and so on).

Indirect activity allocation is available for both actual and plan data. It can perform the following functions:

Indirect activity allocation consists of two processing methods depending on the allocated activity type category. These methods are set for each segment and can be combined in a cycle:

  1. For some activity types, completed activities can be determined per sender. Such activity types are category 3, "Manual entry, indirect allocation". With the help of indirect activity allocation these posted activity quantities are distributed from the sender on their receivers as defined in the segment according to their allocation bases.
  2. With other activity types the activity quantities cannot be calculated or only after unjustifiable effort. Such activity types are Category 2, "Indirect entry, indirect allocation". In this case the sender activity in the indirect activity allocation is calculated either from the receiver tracing factors with the help of a sender-specific weighting factor, or given as a fixed rate in segment definition ("fixed quantity").

Senders and receivers for indirect activity allocation:

  • Senders for indirect activity allocation for actual and plan data are always CO objects of the category cost center/activity type, where only activity types of category 2 or 3 as described above can be used in a segment.
All CO objects can act as receivers (cost center, cost center / activity type, orders, projects, etc.) for indirect activity allocation in plan data. All these categories can appear in a cycle. However, cost objects of the category cost center/activity type may not be combined with other receiver types in a segment.
In indirect activity allocation for actual data, the same cost objects may be selected as receivers as in a manual activity allocation, meaning above all no cost centers/activity types.

Prerequisites for carrying out indirect activity allocation:

  • Enter the activity quantities for activity types of Category 3 ("manual entry, indirect allocation"):
For entry of sender activity quantities, activity type planning is available for plan data.
Note:
Planning activity quantities with the aid of activity type planning is only possible for activity types of category 3. This field will not accomodate category 2 because sender activity quantities are indirectly determined from receiver tracing factors and fixed quantities.
For actual data, a posted sender activity quantity can be created by posting non-allocatable activities.
Note:
Entry of posted activity quantities is not possible for category 2 activity types because activity quantities are indirectly determined.
