Short text
Broadcast Messaging - Manager's Application (Enhanced)
Use
If you have implemented SAP CRM 4.0 Add-On for Service Industries, this release note is not relevant for you.
As of SAP CRM 5.0, the manager's application for sending broadcast messages is easier to use. Changes to the user interface include:
- Clearer steps when creating distribution lists
- Clearer overview of sent messages
- Terminology: Send Log changed to Sent Log
It is also possible to set the system to keep expired messages a certain number of days after they expire. After the defined time period, this setting automatically purges messages that are no longer necessary, so it may increase system performance.
These changes are not available for Java configuration. For more information, see Java Installation and Configuration Optional.
Effects on Existing Data
At installation, the system is set to keep expired messages 0 days, meaning that expired messages are deleted immediately. Therefore, any expired messages already in your system will be deleted.
If you want to keep your expired messages longer, we recommend that you:
- Back up your expired messages before installing this add-on
- Change the setting in Customizing to the desired period
Effects on Data Transfer
Effects on System Administration
Technically, broadcast messaging is now a Business Server Page (BSP) Web application, which means that it is not necessary to install Java. For more information, see Java Installation and Configuration Optional.
Effects on Customizing
Enter the number of days you want to keep expired messages in Customizing for the Interaction Center WebClient -> Define Broadcast Messaging Profiles.
