Status Management in Products

Use

Release 2.0C provides two new statuses for products.

Status Locked

This status allows you to lock products using general status management. Once a product has been locked, it can no longer be used by other applications. This means that:

  • Locked products can no longer be selected or displayed in the product catalog
  • Items cannot be created in the sales order for products with the status Locked

You may want to lock a product for other applications for the following reasons:

  • You have created a product in CRM but have not yet finished working on it. You want to complete and release it at a later point in time.
  • The product has been downloaded to the system and contains errors. It should not be used for the time being.
  • The product is a seasonal product

You can assign a product the status Locked in the product workbench in the Basic Data view. The current status of a product is shown in the product header.

Status Deleted

In Release 2.0C, products can be created in an inactive form and deleted. The deletion report COM_PRODUCT_DELETE_INACTIV is available for this purpose and is stored as a standard job with the name SAP_REORG_CRM_PRODUCTS_INACTIV. The report can either be run regularly in the background or started manually. It deletes inactive products with the system status Deleted from the product master.
The status Deleted is automatically assigned to inactive products when:

  • An inactive product is activated and the inactive form is no longer required
  • An inactive form of the product is rejected by the user
