Cross-Selling (Changed)

Use

For Release 3.0, various enhancements have been made to the function for maintaining product association rules as follows:

  • Locator
The locator now contains an additional tabstrip Changes not Saved which displays those product association rules not yet saved to the database. These may be (new) manually maintained rules, or existing rules that have been changed. Previously, new or changed rules were displayed under both the tabstrips Worklist and Search. For Release 3.0, new rules are displayed only under the tabstrip Changes not Saved. Changed active rules are also displayed under the tabstrip Search. Changed inactive rules are displayed under the tabstrip Worklist.
  • Additional Assignments for Product Association Rules
Whereas product association rules were previously defined for specific target groups only, you can now specify that product association rules be valid for particular profiles or "globally", that is, for all business partners, independent of target groups and profiles. The facility to create rules based on profiles is relevant in an online scenario such as SAP Internet Sales. Here, product proposals can now be generated for new business partners or those that change their profile, before they have been assigned to a target group. For more information on this point, see also Top n Lists.
Those rules that you specify as being global will most probably be those that you maintain manually (as opposed to those determined from the BW) and which are to be valid for all business partners, regardless of their particular profile or target group.
  • New BAPIs for Product Association Rules
In Release 2.0C only the BAPI BAPI_PR_AR_CREATE existed, which was used for creating and changing a rule. For Release 3.0, this BAPI has been replaced with the following BAPIs: BAPI_PR_AR_CREATEFROMDATA, BAPI_PR_AR_DELETE, and BAPI_PR_AR_CHANGE. In addition, the following BAPIs have also been created: BAPI_PR_AR_EXISTENCECHECKDATA, BAPI_PR_AR_GETLIST, and BAPI_PR_AR_GETDETAIL.
  • Rules Using Data Mining
You can now have product association rules determined in the Business Information Warehouse (BW) using data mining techniques. These rules are then imported into CRM using the above-mentioned BAPIs. These BAPIs act as an interface between CRM and the external system in which the rules are determined, be it BW or otherwise.
  • New Definition of Product Association Rules
For Release 3.0, you can now create true 1:n rules (i.e. one leading product, two or more dependent products) where the probability values for support and confidence are entered per rule. In other words, these values describe the relationship between the leading product and both the dependent products, instead of only between the leading product and each dependent product. Although this was not visible on the interface, in Release 2.0C, all 1:n rules consisted in fact of multiple 1:1 rules because these probability values were entered per product.
Example (1:n rule, Release 2.0C)
Leading Product Dependent Product Support Confidence
P1 P2 12% 23%
P3 34% 12%

In Release 3.0, this rule is now stored as two 1:1 rules as follows:
Example (1:1 rule, Release 3.0)
Leading Product Dependent Product Support Confidence
P1 P2 12% 23%
P1 P3 34% 12%

In addition, both 1: n and n:m rules can now also be created, where the values for support and confidence apply to all the dependent products.
Example (1:n rule, Release 3.0)
Leading Product Dependent Product Support Confidence
P1 P2,P3 8% 17%

Example (n:m rule, Release 3.0)
Leading Products Dependent Products Support Confidence
P1,P2 P3,P4,P5 28% 12%

  • New Tabstrips
Data on product association rules is now displayed under two separate tabstrips: Header Data and Detail Information. The latter displays information as to the origin of the rule (whether manually maintained or determined from the BW) and on the last person to change the rule.
  • Additional Functions When Maintaining Product Association Rules
The new function Copy enables you to create a new association rule by copying an existing rule. The new function Deactivate enables you to change a rule from active to inactive.

Effects on Existing Data

Due to the new definition of product association rules, existing 1:n and n:m association rules have been converted into the appropriate 1:1 and N:1 rules using XPRAs. Following the upgrade, the system then contains only 1:1 and n:1 rules.

Effects on Data Transfer

Effects on System Administration

Effects on Customizing

To accommodate profile-related and global rules, several standard schemas and cross-selling/up-selling/down-selling methods have been added to the method schema. Profile-related and global rules are selected only if, in the settings for Telesales and Internet Sales, the appropriate new method schemas are entered, or user-specific schemas adjusted.
