Object Relationships in Activities

Use

As of CRM Release 4.0, you can refer to specific objects directly from an activity. These can be individual objects, business agreements, or other objects. Individual objects are objects that can be uniquely identified, such as a car by its license plate or serial number, or a house by its unique address and postal code. For example, an individual object could be a house, and this can be used as a reference object for the fire extinguishers you have installed in your house.

The advantages of using object relationships in activities are:

  • They provide you with additional reference material, thus ensuring clarity and transparency
  • They enable you to access related objects quickly and easily from an activity itself

Effects on Customizing

SAP defines specific objects which you can refer to, that is, individual objects and business agreements.

In order to refer to specific objects from an activity, you need to assign the required objects to an object relationship profile. This profile can be assigned to an activity, enabling you to refer to specific objects directly from an activity. You make these settings in Customizing for CRM under Transactions → Settings for Activities → Define Object Relationship Profile.

Further Information

For more information on object relationships, see the documentation available for the corresponding Customizing activity referred to above.
