Service Opportunities in Opportunity Management (Enhanced)

Use

As of Release 4.0, you can record opportunities for service contracts and non-contractual services in Opportunity Management. This enhancement extends the closed-loop service cycle supported by mySAP CRM, by enabling you to create service (contract) quotations, service contracts, or service orders as a follow-up to an opportunity.

For service contract opportunities, you can enter the installed base and installed base components that are the subject of a contract on a new tab page Object List in the opportunity item data. This tab page is only visible if you have entered a service product in an opportunity item.

This functionality is available in the CRM Enterprise channel only, in the SAP GUI and the People-Centric UI.

Effects on Customizing

Creation of a Service Contract as a Follow-Up Document

In the standard Customizing for business transactions, the predefined transaction type SC (SAP Service Contract) is defined as a permitted target transaction for copying the transaction type OPPT (SAP Opportunity), and the predefined item category SCN (Service Contract Item) is a permitted target item category for copying the item category OPPT (Opportunity Item).

If you want to create other transactions and items as follow-up documents, you define this in CRM Customizing in the step Transactions → Copying Control for Business Transactions → Define Copying Control for Transaction Types and Define Copying Control for Item Categories.

Validity Dates of Prospective Service Contracts

To enable users to enter on the tab page Milestones the anticipated validity dates of a service contract for which they have recorded an opportunity, you need to define a date profile in CRM Customizing in the step Basic Functions → Date Management → Define Date Profile. You assign this to your transaction type for opportunities in the step Transactions → Basic Settings → Define Transaction Types.
