International Address Versions in Business Transactions (New)

Use

The function International Address Versions for business partner address, as found in Central Address Management, has now been enhanced and made directly available within business transactions as of CRM 4.0 in the SAP GUI.

You can now maintain international address versions in different character sets, for example Chinese and English, within a business transaction itself. The address versions maintained here are document dependant and are not saved in, nor do they affect, the address details in the business partner master data.

Previously this function was only available in the master data records. This means there was a risk that you or another user could delete or alter essential master data records when adding a new version and also that special authorizations are needed to maintain master data. This is no longer a problem because the versions formatted and saved in the document using the enhanced function are not carried over into the master data. The versions are simply document dependant.

For example, you create a sales order and the address version is taken by the system from the business partner master data and entered into the document. The address version in the master data is maintained in this case to European standards. A Chinese colleague opens the document and uses the new function to add a Chinese version of the address for the document. The Chinese version is saved only in this document and the master data records remain untouched. You can create several different international address versions for business partners within the document itself to suit your needs.
