Start/Exit Function for Web Requests (Enhanced)

Use

Starting with this release, SAP supports the start/exit function for web requests.

The additional 'start_exit' page is generated when web requests are created. The function of this page is to ensure that a request process is completed in the system even if an error in operation occurs and to prevent inactive sessions impeding the performance of the SAP Web Application Server.

The content pages (start page, signature page, confirmation page) of a web request are "framed" with the 'start_exit' page, which display information such as The application is starting... or The user session is being closed... when a web request is called or closed. A BSP application is called using the corresponding URL on the 'start_exit' page.

Effects on Existing Data

Note the following upgrade information:

For older web requests without the start/exit function, you can use a program to supplement the start/exit function in BSP applications. It is important that you update the corresponding URLs on your web site as well as the BSP applications.
