Templates for Business Partners (New)

Use

As of Customer Relationship Management 5.0, you can use the template framework (TFW) to create and maintain templates for business partners. Using templates allows you to create and maintain data that is required by a large number of business partners once only in a template, thus saving you time and effort during data entry.

The template framework for business partners supports templates for the following sales-area-dependent data sets:

  • Sales
  • Shipping
  • Billing
  • Status

You have two options when working with templates:

  • The data in the template is by default referenced by the business partner. The data contained in the templates is read at runtime into the business partner attributes. Thus any changes you make to templates are reflected in all business partners that reference it.
  • You can copy the template data locally to a business partner and overwrite it with your own data, thus breaking the link between the business partner and template. Any changes made subsequently to the template are therefore no longer reflected in the business partner.

Templates are assigned to business partners in business partner maintenance on the Templates tab page.

Effects on Existing Data

Any data already maintained for a business partner is not affected by the data within a template if a template is assigned subsequently.

Effects on Data Transfer

The template framework enables template data to be transferred to external systems, such as SAP Business Information Warehouse.

To work with templates, carry out the Customizing activities under Customer Relationship Management -> Master Data -> Business Partner -> Templates.
