Status Management in iPPE

Use

For reasons of product liability and quality assurance, companies must provide information on changes that are made to a product in individual stages of its lifecycle. In addition to the change itself, they must also record the reasons for the change, and the release of changed products for subsequent processes in the company. The functions available in engineering change management now include status management. Status management enables you to keep a detailed record of changes made to the product structure and to trace these changes.

You can use status management to draw up various release processes for the different products and areas within your enterprise. Objects for which status management is planned then run through the release process automatically.

At present, you can use status management for objects from the product structure only (component variants and assembly items). You cannot use status management for objects from the process structure or factory layout. You can view and maintain status entries directly at the object.

Various statuses, and the values they can have, can be defined by the user in the SAP Reference IMG. Default settings are not provided.

You can use preconditions to reproduce a staged release process. Preceeding statuses can be used as preconditions for reaching a higher status.

If you create an object and state that it is to be subject to status management, the object is automatically included in the release process and runs through the release stages that have been planned for the object. This does not influence the release of the change number.

You can make the necessary settings in the following processing steps:
