Batch Genealogy and Inheritance (Changed)

Use

As of DI Release 4.6C2, batch genealogy and batch characteristics functionality has been expanded to include the following scenarios:

  • Moving goods between plants using:
  • a two step transfer

  • a stock transport order without delivery

  • a stock transport order with delivery

  • a stock transport order that includes a delivery and billing document or invoice

  • Creating a purchase order for contract assembly where issuing and receiving plants are different.
  • Viewing batch genealogy for merged process orders
  • Supporting class types 022 (Batches unique at Plant Level) and 023 (Batches unique at Material Level)

Batch characteristics inheritance takes place during goods receipt and is integrated into the Materials Management Inventory Management (MM-IM) area.

Effects on Customizing

To enable genealogy for inter-plant movements, you must set the batch classification for movement 305 in the Customizing for SAP Production Planning for Process Industries - IS-HT-MES (Manufacturing Execution System). To do so set the Ext. Classindicator in the Set Up Batch Classification activity.
