SAP Bidding Engine (Changed)
Use
As of SAP Bidding Engine, Release 3.0 you can source your goods and services using more flexible and tailored processes. Enhancements to transaction type Customizing means you are no longer limited to simply bid invitations and auctions. Instead you can define any type of document you wish to source your requirements, for example requests for information, queries for services or contract negotiations. For more information on contract negotiations, see the Release Note Purchase Contract.
You can also use the new weighting and ranking functions to evaluate and compare bids. You can apply the weighting and valuation factors at attribute, item and bid levels. You have the option of making these factors known to bidders, thereby enabling them to submit optimized bids.
There is also a new function to view and compare the bids you receive in response to a bid invitation. All the scores that have been calculated from the weighting and valuation factors are displayed clearly for each level. While it is primarily designed for use in conjunction with weighting and ranking, you can still use it to compare bids even if you have not assigned any weighting factors in your bid invitation.
For bids, bid invitations and contracts, you can now use the new up- and download function to store these documents locally in the form of a file. This allows you, for example, to work on larger documents more easily. For more information on this function, see the Release Note Up- and Download Function for Purchasing Documents.
In the case of auctions, you now have the option of assigning bidders a competitive advantage or disadvantage using the factored-cost bidding function. In this way, for example, you can reward a particular supplier for good service in the past. There have also been many improvements made to the Live Auction Cockpit interface.
