Breakdown Category Enhanced with More Breakdown Types
Scope of Functions
Earlier releases provided breakdown categories with breakdowns by subitem, partner, transaction currency and acquisition year. The following function has been added in Release 4.6A:
The possible entries for the breakdown type now include:

When maintaining breakdowns for items, in addition to the standard subassignments, you can now enter your own custom subassignments. Besides the breakdown type, for each characteristic you can enter a fixed value (analogous to the subitem category) and a default set for data entry.
Now you can also enter breakdowns for the unit of measure and the acquisition period. A fixed value is entered for the unit measure.
For totals items there is an option to use the breakdown details of all lower-level value items - this is possible in validations, drilldown reports, and Interactive Excel. Then the breakdown category assigned to the totals item is ignored. In earlier releases, in the mentioned functions only the detail that agreed with the total item's breakdown category was available. If desired, you can switch from the old logic to the modified logic in the Global System Settings.
Effects on Existing Data
Breakdowns of existing breakdown categories are converted as follows:
- Subitem:,,breakdown type 3 for subitem category and subitem
- Partner:,,if partial breakdown, breakdown type 3; otherwise breakdown type 4
- Transaction currency:,,breakdown type 2
- Acquisition year:,,breakdown type 3
Effects on Customizing
Customizing of breakdown categories has been extended accordingly.
