High-performance Reading of Transaction Data Using Summarization Levels

Description

Drill-down reporting enables you to analyze from highly-aggregated group results through to detailed figures. For this purpose, the transaction data can be stored in a very detailed raster. The data can also be very extensive. A report on a high level still has to read the complete dataset. As the selection of this data often takes a long time online, this can lead to slower response times in reporting.
Using summarization levels you can attain performance advantages at the cost of memory space. As the summarization levels provide the data independent of reports, the data no longer has to be read and summarized from each individual report but is prepared centrally for all reports.

Setting up the summarization levels consists of:

  • the definition of the summarization levels,
  • and supplying the summarization levels with data. This has to be
scheduled, future updates are carried out automatically.
