Risk Assessment (Enhanced)

Use

As of feature package 01 (FP01) for component extension 5.0 for SAP Environment, Health, and Safety Management (SAP EHS Management), the risk assessment application is enhanced and includes the following new or changed features:

  • Workplace sampling (new)
Agents with predefined limits, such as the relevant occupational exposure limits (OELs), have to be tracked in the risk assessment process. Exposure to such agents or their components can be measured in a workplace sampling process. The system supports the sampling process as follows:
  • The industrial hygienist creates a sampling campaign to specifying the agents that need to be sampled, the number of samples that needs to be taken, and the sampling method that should be used.

  • When the sampling campaign is released, the sampling technician can access all open samples for this campaign from the home page and can plan the samples according to the sampling targets defined by the industrial hygienist. The sampling technician can, for example, plan the dates when the samples should be taken, and add the dates as appointments to the used calendar as an internet calendar file (ICS file format).

  • After f the planning is finished, the sampling technician can open the samples from the home page to start the sampling preparation. The sampling technician can, for example, add blank samples or print field sheets.

  • After the preparation is finished, the sampling technician has to follow up on the sampling and can add, for example, sampled persons or the shift pattern in which the sampled person works.

  • When the samples are taken, the sampling technician can analyze them within your company or can commission an analytical laboratory. If a laboratory analyzes the samples, the sampling technician can, for example, generate a list of detailed sample information and send it to the laboratory together with the samples.

  • After the samples are analyzed, the sampling technician can import the analytical results from a lab result file or can enter them manually into the system.

  • When all sampling data are stored in the system, the sampling technician can check the sampling data. To support this task, the system compares the sampling data with the predefined limits. The result is displayed as a color-coded bar. After checking the sampling data, the sampling technician can complete the sampling process.

After the workplace sampling is finished, the sampling data are available when you determine risks in the risk analysis process.
  • Measuring exposure to agents (changed)
The function that supported you to measure the amount of the agent to which workers and the surrounding environment are exposed is now replaced by the new function Workplace Sampling. The business objects Amount (EHFND_DATA_AMOUNT) and Data Series (EHFND_DATA_SERIES) that were used by this function are obsolete. Active use of these business objects will no longer be supported.
For further information, see SAP Note 2065178.
  • Airborne agents (new)
You can use airborne agents if you want to monitor an air contaminant that can be harmful when inhaled. An airborne agent is assigned to hazards and consists of components that can have occupational exposure limits (OELs) assigned in regulatory list revisions for OEL.
  • OEL adjustment to shift pattern (new)
To be able to compare analytical results of a workplace sampling with the OEL, the shift pattern needs to be identical. If samples were taken with a different shift pattern than the shift pattern that is used by the OEL value, the OEL values are adjusted mathematically to the used shift pattern. You can specify methods for OEL adjustments and assign it to listed substances. In addition, you can tailor the adjustment calculation to suit your needs.
  • Regulatory list revisions for OEL (changed)
If a method for OEL adjustment is assigned to listed substances, the adjusted values are displayed in the regulatory list revision.
  • Physical agents (changed)
In the Occupational Exposure Limit tab, you can select a method for OEL adjustment. The adjusted values are displayed.
  • Quantitative exposure assessment (new)
When you determine risks related to the exposure of workers to agents, you can analyze exposure ratings in the quantitative exposure assessment. In addition, you can specify a confidence level to indicate how reliable your exposure ratings are. To support you in your exposure assessment, you can generate a statistical analysis that compares specific OEL values of agents against workplace sampling data. The result of the statistical calculation is displayed using Microsoft Office integration.
In the quantitative exposure assessment, you can select a method for OEL adjustment. The adjusted values are used for the comparison of the sample data with predefined limits. The result is displayed as a color-coded bar alerting you to whether or not there is a high level of exposure.
  • Analyzing exposure to agents (changed)
The function that supported you to analyze exposure to an agent by comparing a measured amount of the agent against OELs is now replaced by the new function Quantitative Exposure Assessment. The business objects Amount (EHFND_DATA_AMOUNT) and Data Series (EHFND_DATA_SERIES) that were used by this function are obsolete. Active use of these business objects will no longer be supported.
For further information, see SAP Note 2065178.
  • CHIPs (changed)
The following new CHIPs (Collaborative Human Interface Parts) are designed to support the workplace sampling process:
  • Sampling Campaigns Overview CHIP

  • Active Sampling Campaigns CHIP

  • Samples in Process CHIP

The delivered CHIPs were enhanced to display, by default, also data from sublocations.
  • Roles (changed)
The following two new roles are designed to support the workplace sampling process:
  • Corporate Health and Safety Manager

  • Sampling Technician

The delivered roles were enhanced to support the new services.
  • Home pages (changed)
Two new home pages are designed to ease the work of persons with the new roles Corporate Health and Safety Managerand Sampling Technician.
The delivered home pages were enhanced to support the three new CHIPs.
  • Health and safety overview dashboard (new)
From the home pages, you can open a new dashboard to get real time information about any incidents, existing risks, approved chemicals, workplace exposures, or sampling campaigns within your company. You can navigate through the location hierarchy and view the information as charts for each selected location.
