Supporting Pool Tables

Scope of Functions

Since Release 2.1, you are able to use transparent tables in the application component Special Purpose Ledger (see the release note Converting FI-SL Pool Tables to Transparent Tables). Up to and including Release 2.0, you had to create pool tables before you could use the Special Purpose Ledger.

The advantages of transparent tables compared to pool tables are:

  • Faster processing times
  • Easier to enhance
  • Easier to read data using external tools
  • Support of the euro conversion

The use of pool tables will only be supported in this release and the release to follow.

This has the following consequences:

New Pool Tables

You can no longer create new ledgers in pool tables.

Existing Pool Tables

We recommend you carry out the following steps:

  1. Check whether ledgers with reference to pool tables exist in your system. To do this, run program RGUPOOL0. Note that the program does not check whether these ledgers are used in a production system.
Also note that sample ledgers L0, G0, and LR (for the pool tables GLT1 and GLT2) may have been included in your system. Should these ledgers appear in the output list of this report, check to see if you use these ledgers.
  1. Convert your pool tables to transparent tables. For instructions, see the release note Converting FI-SL Pool Tables to Transparent Tables.

Effects on Existing Data

Beginning with the release that no longer supports pool tables, you will no longer be able to post to the ledgers of pool tables.
