Transferring Data from Legacy Systems with the IS Migration Workbench (New)
Use
From SAP ECC Industry Extension Insurance 6.0, you can use the IS Migration Workbench to transfer data from operational systems (legacy systems) to the Collections/Disbursements system.
You execute this type of migration for initial data transfer to the Collections/Disbursements system. You can transfer master data and transaction data for a migration object.
The IS Migration Workbench enhances existing Direct Input functions with easy-to-use options, such as key management for operational systems and encryption. You can create master data objects that build on one another without knowledge of an SAP key.
Data is extracted from the legacy system with customer-specific extraction programs. The exact record structure is defined in the IS Migration Workbench with table settings. The IS Migration Workbench retrieves and processes the datasets created in this way, which are transferred to target machines using file transfer. This also executes code conversion (EBCDIC in ASCII). The system then formats the data and transfers it to a Direct Input module.
You start the IS Migration Workbench with the EMIGALL transaction.
Standard Migration Objects for FS-CD
The standard delivery contains the following migration objects for usage in Collections/Disbursements:
- Business partner
- Contract account
- Insurance object
- Payment plan item
You can add more objects to these migration objects.
The control tables delivered by SAP define the structure of a migration object and can consist of multiple SAP structures. All structures that participate in a migration object are defined in the Data Dictionary. This includes customer-specific enhancements (fields).
Effects on Existing Data
Migration does not change data that is already available in the system. The migration objects are used for initial data transfer.
Effects on Data Transfer
The settings for the IS Migration Workbench are client-independent, but data transfer takes place on a client-dependent basis.
Effects on System Administration
Users require authorizations for authorization object E_MIGRATN.
Effects on Customizing
Further Information
You can find more information about the scope of functions for the migration workbench in the user handbook for the migration workbench. To find this, start transaction EMIGALL and on the IS Migration Workbench screen, select IS Migration -> User Handbook.
When you are working in the migration workbench, system documentation is available for the individual objects, structures and fields.
