Processing of Claims with a Benefit Period (New)
Use
As of Release 4.72 you can process claims that cover a benefit period. This is necessary with claims in the lines of health insurance and care insurance in which the benefits with a claim item or a claim item grouping are provided over a period of time.
The consequences when processing such a claim are as follows:
- Based on the benefit period of the claim item or claim item grouping, the following data is read:
- the valid versions of the policy product and benefit type tree
- the policy snapshot (see also Release Note on Policy Snapshot)
- In the compensation calculation the system considers the benefit period of the claim item and/or claim item grouping.
- Limits and deductibles that are based on a benefit period are also considered here.
In contrast, claims in the line of P & C insurance continue to be based on the incident date.

To be able to use the new functionality, in IMG activity Define Time Reference per Policy Product you need to set the time reference Benefit Period for the relevant policy product.
Keep in mind the new assignment of benefit type trees in customizing (see Release Note on Benefit Type Trees).
