HR: Replacement of RPDSYS Documentation Tool in Human Resources

Description

As of release 4.5A, the tool used until now to maintain documentation in Human Resources - RPDSYS - will be replaced by a different method of maintaining documentation.

This conversion is a step towards consolidating all of the tools used to maintain documentation in the R/3 System. At a later date, all documentation in the R/3 System will be maintained using just one tool.

Integration

The HR documentation maintenance transaction (PDSY) is integrated with the individual activities in the Implementation Guide (IMG). Human Resource tools such as the schema and form editor that formally used the old documentation system (RPDSYS) now use the new documentation maintenance methods. Some HR objects that do not have their own method of maintaining documentation can be maintained directly using the HR documentation maintenance transaction (PDSY).

Converting documentation

Before you start to convert documentation, PLEASE read the documentation on the Conversion Report for HRDSYS Customer Documentation.

SAP will convert the documentation on the following HR object types in RPDSYS:

  • Personnel calculation schemas (SCHE)
  • Personnel calculation rules (CYCL)
  • Time Management functions (FUNT)
  • Payroll functions (FUNC)
  • Time Management operations (OPET)
  • Payroll operations (OPEC)
  • Processing classes (PRCL)
  • Specification of processing classes (PRCV)
  • Evaluation classes (EVCL)
  • Specification of evaluation classes (EVCV)
  • Features (549B)
  • Wage types (WTYP)
  • Forms (FORM)
  • Conversions (KONV)
  • Symbolic constants - value counting (SKON)
  • Address types (536A)
  • PD infotypes (77AW, 77KM, 77MB)
  • Group for semantic codes in PD-PLAN (SEGR)
  • Semantic codes for PD-PLAN (SEKZ)

The documentation on the HR object types listed above can be displayed and changed by the new transaction (PDSY).

  • Additional description of feature (549X)
  • Enhanced documentation on personnel calculation rules (CYCX)
  • International wage type documentation (WTYX)
  • Enhanced documentation on wage types (LARX)
  • Enhanced documentation on conversions (KONX)

These object types (e.g. LARX) support the effective functioning of the object types described earlier (e.g. wage types (WTYP)) and are used in direct connection with these object types.

You can use transaction PDSY to display, change, copy, delete, and transport these object types and their documentation.

SAP has used the following transactions to convert documentation maintenance:

Schema editor (PE01)

Rule editor (PE02)

Feature editor (PE03)

Editor for functions and operations (PE04)

Form editor (PE51)

Wage type copier (OH11/PU30)

Views in Implementation Guide (IMG) (wage types V_512W_O,

processing classes V_T52D1)

Customer-specific documentation (BOOK, CHAP) is stored client-dependently in HR documentation classes (ZBOOK, ZCHAP) for HR documentation maintenance. This documentation and customer-specific documentation on HR objects (e.g. documentation on customer form ZF01) is converted in the customer client using the Conversion Report for HRDSYS customer documentation to HRDSYS documentation RPDSNS00.

Translation connection

The HR documentation maintenance transaction (PDSY) is connected to translation, unlike the previous tool used to maintain documentation (RPDSYS).

Transport connection

The HR documentation maintenance transaction (PDSY) has an automatic transport connection, unlike the previous tool used to maintain documentation (RPDSYS).

Important note

Before starting to convert documentation, PLEASE read the documentation on the Conversion Report for HRDSYS Customer Documentation.
