EA_ICM_ICM_CORE_01: Determination (New)

Use

As of SAP ECC 6.0, Enterprise Extension Incentive and Sales Force Management, Enhancement Package 3 (EA-ICM 603) Business Function Incentive and Commission Management (EA_ICM_ICM_CORE_01) the determination functions have been revised. You still use the determination process to determine object types and object IDs based on specific characteristics combinations.

As of EA-ICM 603the functions of the enhanced determination are additionally available, comprising a separate analysis mode that you can call outside the commission case process. The enhanced determination provides the following benefits and additional functions:

  • Flexible determination process that can be configured to your own needs
  • Improved visual display (visualization of the data structures that were defined in Customizing for the determination process)
  • Possibility to test the specified determination settings
  • Simple configuration of the determination
  • Downwards compatibility
  • Clear overview of results

Previously the determination was only available in the commission case process, and it only ran as a background job. You can now configure the enhanced determination in Customizing for Incentive and Sales Force Management, under General Tools → Determination, independent of the determination process. The configuration options of the enhanced determination provides more flexibility in influencing the behavior of the determination process and the results to be determined. You can validate results, check the configuration of combinations and implement BAdIs, which allow you to design the determination process in a flexible way.

With the new transaction Determination Analysis (CACS_DET_ANALYSIS), you can make settings for determination combinations, assignments and certain selection options, based on a selected view of the data. The transaction can be configured differently for the two process methods, process mode and analysis mode. This lets you test changes in the analysis dialog without influencing the current business processes. As soon as you have changed the settings, you can simulate them in analysis mode of the determination and display the results of your changes.

We recommend that you do not use the existing filters for the contract type and standard contract. But rather you should define the filters as fields in the selection table, if they are relevant for the determination process.
To ensure that these fields are not used, a validation option is provided. If you would still like to use these fields nevertheless, for instance for reasons of downwards compatibility, the system supports this.

Data entry options let you further save your determination scenarios so that you only have to enter the data for each determination scenario once. You can also create test scenarios from the data for subsequent use.

Note: The determination tool is integrated in the development coding of ICM and it uses so-called factory methods. These factory methods determine a combination ID and thus initiate the determination process. Factory classes must be inherited from the factory superclass of the determination, and each access to the determination process must take place within this context. Consequently, the generic access of determination (only with a combination ID) is not allowed as the standard process.
The call of the factory method is implemented within the source code of the application with the aim of using the determination tool, such as within the remuneration process in the commission case document.

Effects on Customizing

You previously made settings for the determination in the IMG in the activities Define Determination Criteria and Configure Determination Combinations/Combination Assignments in the relevant IMG activities for the standard commission contract.

For the enhanced determination, there is a new activity for making settings for the determination analysis in Customizing for Incentive and Sales Force Management under General Tools → Determination.

We recommend switching to the enhanced determination after the upgrade and configuring it to your own requirements.

To use the enhanced determination, you must make the following settings in Customizing for Incentive and Sales Force Management:

  • Under General Tools → Determination → Determination Process → Define Process Settings of Calculating Object Type, edit the process settings for the calculating object type; this informs the determination process whether the classic or enhanced determination is to be used.
  • You must also configure the checks; these checks are required for process mode and optional for analysis mode. Under General Tools → Determination → Determination Process → Define Check Settings of Entry Point, you can edit the checks for the entry point.

In addition, under the individual agreements of the structure node Configure Determination an organizational activity: Enhanced Determination was added, which merely reminds you of the option of using the enhanced determination.
