Revision (Enhanced)

Use

As of Release DI 4.6C2, revisions can be used for both maintenance orders and maintenance notifications.

Therefore, the earlier function is being replaced by the functions Create/Change Revision and Display Revision. To use the new function to process revisions that were created with the earlier function, you must run the conversion report RIREV in the system.

In a revision you can define the following data:

  • Start and end of revisions

You can use the customer exit IREV0001 to include customer-specific fields on a subscreen.

The revision is connected to the status management and to change documents.

Notification- and Order Processing

You can only assign a revision to a notification or an order, if it has the status open or released.

If you enter a revision when you create a notification, and create an order at the same time, the revision, together with the revision start and -end are copied into the order. The same applies to orders.

In the list editing, you can select by the revision and assign multiple notifications or orders to a revision at the same time.

If there is no WBS element entered in the order, the WBS element from the revision is copied into the order.

Checks

For the notification- and order processing, you can control the following checks and their effects through messages that you configure in Customizing:

  • If you assign notifications to an order, the system checks whether the revisions of notification and order are the same and, if not, whether they are allowed to deviate from each other.
  • You create a revision for a particular functional location and enter the revision in a notification or an order. In the notification or order, a functional location is also entered as the reference object. The system checks whether the reference object (from the notification or order) is installed or identical in the structure of the functional location (from the revision).
  • You create a revision for a network and enter the revision in an order. A network is also entered in the order. The system checks whether the network (from the order) is contained in the structure of the network (from the order).
The system performs a similar check if a WBS element is entered in the revision and in the order. In this case, however, the message cannot be configured in Customizing, and you must decide directly whether you want to copy the WBS element from the revision into the order.

Caution

In the notification you have the option of arranging the subscreens in Customizing as required. Ensure that the subscreens are arranged in such a way that the user always enters the functional location in the notification before entering the revision.
