PP Backflush and APO

Scope of Functions

A new function has been implemented in the SAP Automotive System 2.0. This function is specifically designed for scenarios with a high volume of orders with small order quantities - often for only 1 piece. As a result of the link with the APO System, the backflushing process can be executed significantly faster. You enter the backflushing data in APO and then the subsequent processes (that is, the execution of the stock postings) are carried out in the R/3 System.

The new backflushing functions are:

  • Reporting point backflush is also possible in make-to-order production.
  • Goods receipt is posted for a sales order item for which a product costing is carried out at the same time.
  • In Controlling, you can display the WIP.

You can carry out the backflush for both make-to-order and make-to-stock repetitive manufacturing. However, in this release, production by lots with individual orders will not be possible and it will not yet be possible to post component scrap or excess component consumption.

The backflushing process in R/3 and in APO for the individual scenarios is as follows:

  • Make-to-order repetitive manufacturing: Sales orders are created in R/3 and the planned independent requirements are transferred to APO with a characteristic value assignment. The materials relevant for planning in APO are planned in APO using Rapid Matrix Planning. The materials relevant for planning in R/3 are also planned in the R/3 System. A creation document is created when backflushing which is used to create the backflushing document in the R/3 System.

  • Make-to-stock repetitive manufacturing: Planned orders must exist for make-to-stock repetitive manufacturing in APO but they are no longer necessary in R/3. Production planning and component explosion are carried out in APO. The materials are planned in APO and in R/3 as in make-to-order repetitive manufacturing. The creation document is also transferred to R/3 and converted to a backflush document. The requirements are reduced in APO and the stock postings in R/3.

Im APO erfolgt die Linienplanung und die Auflösung der Komponenten.

Effects on Existing Data

A link to the APO System is required if you want to use the new backflush.

Effects on Data Transfer

For entering backflush data in APO, the relevant data is transferred via interfaces (CIF) to the APO System from the R/3 System.
