ISHERCM_EXT_IAP: Credit Derivation Tool (New)

Use

As of SAP ECC 6.0, Industry Extension Higher Education, Enhancement Package 4, Business Function SAP Student Lifecycle Management: Implementation Accelerator(ISHERCM_EXT_IAP) you can benefit from a new tool for credit derivation, which allows users to easily define credit derivation rules without ABAP programming.

In previous releases, Student Lifecycle Management offered BAdIs (Business Add-Ins) for credit derivation in the areas of Grading and Equivalency Determination.

This tool allows the user to define how much earned and graded credits (defined as a certain percentage of attempted credit) a student should get, according to the given grade in a certain area. For example, the user can specify that in the area of grading, if a student gets grade 'A', he or she can earn 100% of attempted credit; whereas, if a student gets grade 'B', 90% of the attempted credit can be earned. The user can define different rules in different areas, using the following transactions:

  • Grading: Transaction PIQSMFU, grading self-service, or the related RFCs in grading
  • Equivalency Determination: Transaction PIQED, ED Simulation service for Advisor, or the related RFCs in ED
  • Extended Academic Work Maintenance: Transaction PIQST10

If no rules have been defined or no rules can be applied, the existing BAdI implementation for credit derivation is still used by the system by default. This does not affect the existing behaviour of the application.

If a rule has been defined and can be applied, the credits can only be derived from the rule, and therefore, the existing BAdI implementation is not called.
