ISHMED_SCD: View Type Medication Events/Nursing Services (New)

Use

As of SAP enhancement package 5 for SAP ERP 6.0, Industry Extension Healthcare (IS-H 605), business function Clinical System Situation Based Clinical Documentation (ISHMED_SCD), the new view type Medication Events/Nursing Services is available.

This view type replaces the view type Medication Events/Inpatient Nursing Services available in previous releases and contains both the established and new functions.

You can also use this new view type to document outpatient nursing services. However, this is only possible if you implement the nursing process documentation.

In addition, the new function Create Nursing Note is available; see also the release note ISHMED_SCD: Nursing Process Documentation – Nursing Note (New).

In the selection variant, you can select data according to basic catalog items and group items, for example. When group items are used in the selection, the system automatically includes the subordinate basic catalog items.

Note that the system no longer evaluates the Cyclical Services checkbox for nursing services of the nursing process documentation.

The following columns together with the medication events are used in the layout variant:

  • Status: Combines nursing service status and medication event status in a column
  • Duration: Combines the administration duration and the planned or actual duration of a nursing service
  • Duration Unit: For nursing services, the system always fills this column with the unit for minutes
  • Documenting OU: The system fills this column with the nursing OU of the nursing service
  • Cancellation Reason
  • Name: Combines the service text of the nursing services and the mnemonic of the medication events

If you have already been using the Nursing component prior to this release, the system uses the columns in the layout set to display the data of the nursing services of the Nursing Process Documentation component and of the nursing services of the hitherto used Nursing component. For example, the Involved Employees column shows the employees entered for the nursing services of the Nursing Process Documentation component and also the team for the hitherto used nursing services of the Nursing component.

The following columns are characterized as technical and can therefore no longer be used in a layout variant of the view type Medication Events/Nursing Services:

  • Clinical Order/Request Exists: There is no link from nursing services or medication events to clinical orders or requests.
  • Cancellation: The “Canceled” status is available in the Status column in the view type.
  • Patient Class: The system derives the patient class from the movement or the appointment. Nursing services or medication events have no link to movements or appointments.
If you want to obtain an overview of the nursing services for the patients of a patient class or of private patients on your care unit, select the relevant patients in the Occupancy view and call a view of the view type Medication Events/Nursing Services with these selected patients.
  • Private Patient: See Patient Class
  • Private Patient (Indicator): See Patient Class
  • Performing OU: Use the Documenting Org. Unit column instead.
  • Departmental Assignment: Use the Documenting Dept. OU column instead.
  • Service Status: Use the Status column instead
  • Status of Medication Event: Use the Status column instead
  • Nursing Assignment: No longer used
  • Service Catalog: In general, only one service catalog is used
  • Created On
  • Created By
  • Changed On
  • Changed By
  • Canceled
  • Canceled On
  • Canceled By
  • Sequence Number Order Profile
  • Drug ID
  • Sequence Number (Movement): The nursing services of the nursing process documentation no longer have a case reference and therefore no reference to a movement either.
  • Mnemonic: The mnemonic from the basic catalog is no longer used.
  • Institution: Since in general the view type can only be called for one institution, there is no need for differentiation.

You can now only call the following functions for the nursing services of the nursing process documentation within the nursing plan:

  • Create Cycle
  • Display Cycle
  • Change Cycle
  • End Cycle
  • Cancel Cycle

Note that you cannot in general call functions jointly for (old) nursing services of the Nursing component and nursing services of the Nursing Process Documentation (for example, the Release Service function). The Cancel function is an exception here.

Effects on Existing Data

To also use the view type Medication Events/Nursing Services to document outpatient nursing services, you need to implement the new nursing process documentation and set the value of the organizational unit-related parameter (OU parameter) N1PMN for the nursing OU to the value ‘A’ or 'P'.

Note that by setting the OU parameter N1PMN to the value 'P' for the entire institution, you can disable the selection of the nursing services used in earlier releases.
