Patient Transport Service - Basic Data

Use

The module - Patient Transport Service implements the following Customizing and Basic Data from IS-H and IS-H*MED:

Organizational Structure:

  • A Transport Order can take place between any org. units of an institution. For the "Pick-Up" (origin) and "Drop-Off" (destination) points for each transport order, you must specify an organizational unit.
  • The Transport Service is to be configured as an org. unit (i.e., CTS = Central Transport Service). This can be arranged on any position of the organizational structure. To differentiate the org. unit "Patient Transport Service" from other org. units, you must set the the OU-related parameter N1OEFD to "X".

For the entry of a Transport Service into a Service Request or a Transport Order, only those org. units which have an "X" for their Parameter N1OEFD are possible.

Building Structure:

  • With Transport Orders, you can input a room for the org. unit so that the Pick-Up and Drop-Off points are more specific.

Employee Structure:

  • The Transporters assigned to execute the transport orders are to be entered as employees in the system.
  • The org. unit "Patient Transport Service" can schedule for all employees whose coordinating unit is assigned to them.

Transport Types

  • Each Transport Order requires a Transport Type. The possible Transport Types (walking, sitting, prone, etc.) are to be defined in the Implementation Guide in t he section Transport Types.

Status of Transport Orders

  • Each Transport Order requires a Status, which indicates the processing progress of the Transport Order (created, assigned, executed, etc.)
  • The Transport Order Statuses are to be defined by using the Implementation Guide, section Determining Transport Order Status, whereby the system allocates certain status types, which can be defined in their internal and external appearance as a user-defined Icon.
  • The internal display is saved when setting a status in the Transport Order. For this reason, the code can no longer be modified after defining a status. Since the internal display never appear s for a user, it is recommended that numbers are used in this case.

  • The external display is any code with which the Transport Order can be presented to the user. The external display is language-dependent, whereas here it is recommended that letter-codes are used.

  • Since a graphic symbol is usually more intuitive than a code, you can also define an icon for a code for the external display, with which the status of the Transport Order appears for the user. All SAP R/3 icons are available for this function.

  • The following status types have special functions for the module "Patient Transport Service" assigned to them, and for this reason, one status is to be specified for each status type:
  • Initial status: This is any status, which is set when creating a Transport Order.

  • Driver assigned: This status is assigned to a Transport Order as soon as the order was assigned to a Transporter to be executed. The Transporter is assigned to the Order when entering the Transport Order or through the function of the Dispatcher Work Station. It must give specifically one status with the status type "Transporter Assigned".

  • Order completed: This status shows the transporter executed the transport order.

  • Order Canceled: Transport Order is canceled

  • The system provides further status types, for which then a status must be determined, if it is intended that this status be available to the user. The system also includes a function "Set Status" on the Dispatcher Work Station, which is oriented to the quantity of the optional statuses. These optional statuses are:
  • Transporter notified
  • Order received

  • Order denied

  • Patient received

  • Order canceled

  • In addition to the Status Type, the status definition designates an indicator "End Status". Each Transport Order that has this indicator set for its current status cannot accept another status. Typical statuses with the "End Status" Indicator set are:
  • Order interrupted

  • Order completed

Cancellation Reasons:

When canceling Transport Orders, you must enter a Cancellation Reason. Since all Cancellation Reasons specified in an institution are not relevant for Transport Orders, when defining each Cancellation Reason, you can specify whether the Cancellation Reason is used for Transport Orders.

Here, you set the indicator "Transport Order" for all Cancellation Reasons available for canceling Transport Orders.

Number Range for Transport Orders

Every Transport Order is provided with a unique identification number. This number is taken from a number range of the object ISH_N1FAID when creating the Transport Order, then it is entered into the Transport Order and no longer modified.

When setting up the module - Patient Transport Service, you must define an interval for the number range object ISH_N1AFID in the Implementation Guide in section Setting Up Number Ranges for Transport Orders. The number range interval is institution-independent, e.g., all institutions that are defined on your client use the same number range interval. For this reason, you should enter no institution and the object key "*" in the number range maintenance.
