Displaying Vital Signs in the Time Grid (New) - Not Yet Released

Use

The display of vital signs is embedded in the patient organizer, see IS-H*MED Vital Signs - Basic Data. We have provided an new interface, the time grid, for displaying vital signs in the patient organizer. The basic structure is a horizontal time axis where the objects are displayed. You can display vital signs in the time grid in two ways:

  • You call the patient organizer and select the relevant aspect.
  • You call the 'Display Vital Signs' function from the Clinical Work Station (or OR or Nursing).

The time grid is divided into three sections which are described below.

Graphical Display of Vital Signs

You can graphically display individual vital signs in the time grid (this applies to vital signs of the data types 'String Containing Numbers Only' and 'Amount Field with Comma and Plus/Minus Sign'. Vital signs of the 'String' data type cannot be displayed graphically.).

In the Basic Data you can determine whether the system should display a vital sign graphically, at vital sign level. This definition can be overridden at OU level. As a rule: You can define properties at vital sign level, which influence the display in the time grid. These properties can be overridden at OU level.

Textual Display of Vital Signs

You can display every vital sign as text, regardless of its data type.

In the Basic Data you can determine whether the system should display a vital sign textually. This definition can be overridden at OU level. You can display a vital sign in the time grid graphically and textually.

Fluid Balances

When defining vital signs, you can integrate fluid balances into the time grid. Individual balance-relevant vital signs are entered into the system as vital signs. The vital sign values entered for these vital signs can be displayed graphically and/or textually.

Once you have entered a value for a balance-relevant vital sign, the system will display the intake, output and balance totals in the third section of the time grid. The start time and duration of the balancing periods are determined using the OU parameters: N1VPNBILB1/ N1VPPBILD1 and N1VPNBILB2/N1VPPBILD2.

Level of Detail in the Display

Three views are available for displaying vital signs; each has a different level of detail

  • 24 hour view
  • 7 day view
  • 14 day view

You can toggle between these views using 'Zoom In' and 'Zoom Out'.

Functions in the Time Grid

The most important functions in the time grid are:

  • Scrolling: As standard you can scroll in the time grid using the time.
  • Zoom In: Toggle to a view with a higher level of detail
  • Zoom Out: Toggle to a view with lower level of detail
  • Patient Navigation: You can call the 'Display Vital Signs' function for several patients. You can toggle between patients in the time grid.
